“Teranga” + “Technologique”
The reimagining of West Africa, Africa, and a New World with Africa Center Stage is all part of Teranga Meeting Tech-Sovereignty

Teranga is more than a word—it’s a way of being. It’s the open door, the shared meal, the unspoken promise that no one is left behind. Now, under President Faye’s leadership, the New Deal Technologique, and Teranga, are being reimagined to underpin progress even beyond the present digital age.
Senegal’s dynamic capital, Dakar, is an ideal launchpad for AI-driven transformation in Africa, fueled by its burgeoning tech ecosystem, youthful demographic, and government’s commitment to digital innovation. The Diamniadio Digital Technologies Park serves as a testing ground for AI-powered smart city solutions, addressing urban challenges like traffic congestion, flooding, and waste management. Senegal’s “Technological New Deal,” (New Deal Technologique) launched in February 2025 with a $1.76 billion budget, emphasizes AI to enhance healthcare, agriculture, and public services, aligning with the Senegal 2050 agenda to train 100,000 graduates annually in digital skills, including AI.
Dakar’s role as a regional tech hub is further solidified through events like the 2022 AUDA-NEPAD workshops and the 2025 Talk & Taste Social Club, which foster collaboration on AI policies tailored to African needs. The cultural concept of Teranga, the ethos of hospitality and community, infuses these initiatives with a spirit of inclusivity, ensuring AI solutions are co-created with local stakeholders to reflect shared values and address collective challenges, making Dakar a beacon for equitable technological progress.
This beautiful way of living today — Teranga — the integration of ancient culture with AI, promises a communal and progressive look towards Senegal’s shared and inclusive digital future.
Boldly aligning with this new movement, envisioning an integrated and inclusive digital future, and working towards its fruition, is Senator Amadou Thiam. Thiam has created a magazine with penetrating insights to the positive culture and technology-driven optimism that permeates Senegal —
“Discover Senegal is more than a magazine—it is a cultural and economic showcase designed to present Senegal to the world in all its richness, resilience, and radiance. Though timed with the Osaka Universal Expo 2025, this publication stands as a timeless portal into the soul of Senegal, inviting readers—whether diplomats, investors, tourists, or academics—to explore the nation’s treasures.” Senator Amadou Thiam
